Sustainability & heritage
Made in Denmark.
Made to last.
Affordable furniture and responsibility aren't opposites. We've spent six decades proving it — from a workshop in Faarvang to homes worldwide.
Made in Denmark
90% of our furniture is produced in Denmark — not outsourced. Local production means tighter quality control and a shorter, more accountable supply chain.
Sustainable forestry
We build with wood-based materials drawn from Denmark's 200-year sustainable-forestry tradition. Choosing the right raw material is the biggest lever a maker has.
Danish design
Clean, functional, durable — classic Nordic values at accessible prices. Furniture designed to be used every day, and to last.
Since 1965
Six decades of Danish craft.
Tvilum was founded in 1965 by Egon Kristiansen in Faarvang, central Denmark — where our headquarters and largest factory still stand today. From those humble beginnings we've grown into one of Europe's leading makers of ready-to-assemble furniture.
In 2021 we joined forces with the Steens Group, adding children's furniture and creating a combined group of around €300M in revenue. Today more than 600 people make furniture that ships to over 50 countries — yet the principles haven't changed: functional design, honest materials, built to last.
Governance
An ESG strategy, not a slogan.
We're a member of the UN Global Compact and structure our work around a clear ESG strategy — environment, social and governance — including a whistleblower scheme for everyone in the organisation. It's where we believe a manufacturer can make the biggest difference.
